From Resistance to Results

Background: In a non-profit with a mix of global staff and volunteers, the CEO had many great ideas, but they often got lost because there was no system to keep track of them. The team, used to a more relaxed, informal way of working, struggled to manage tasks effectively. This meant great ideas often went unfinished, and everyone felt overwhelmed.

The change

To solve this, we introduced Jira, a simple project management system. We knew the team would be resistant to change, so we listened carefully to their concerns and made sure they felt supported. It wasn’t easy at first, but over time, the team saw how the system helped them keep track of tasks, remember ideas, and plan more effectively.

Transformative Impact

With Jira, the team was able to:

  • Track Ideas: No more forgotten ideas – everything was in one place.
  • Manage Tasks: Tasks could be prioritised and planned, which helped reduce stress.
  • Encourage Innovation: By having more control over their tasks, the team had more time for creative thinking.

One team member said, “Jira helps me keep all my activities on track, which allows me to effectively plan my priorities for the week.”

As the team saw the benefits, they went from resisting the system to embracing it. They even started making suggestions to improve it further, turning the system into something that worked for them.

Changing the way a team works isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. By listening, being patient, and providing the right tools, we helped the team move from resistance to real results. Now, they not only feel in control of their tasks but are also more confident and creative.

The key takeaway? Change is hard, but with the right support, it can lead to something great. We’re proud of the journey and excited about the future. Let’s make change work for you, too!

From Low Morale to High-Performance

Background:  At a major media company, the team was incredibly disconnected. They were siloed, uncollaborative, and, at times, even hostile to each other—there were real arguments at the desks with a lot of tension in the air. The negativity was affecting morale, and it seemed like no one could work together.

The Solution

We knew we needed a multi-faceted approach to turn things around. Here’s what we did:

  1. Understanding Personalities: We used Myers-Briggs to help the team understand each other’s personalities. While it’s a simple tool, it helped them realise that their differences weren’t personal—they were just natural ways of thinking and working.
  2. Allowing Individual Expression: Sometimes people are caught up in stress and anxiety, and they need space to express themselves. As managers, it’s our job to approach with compassion and give them the time to talk openly about what was going on.
  3. Getting Out of the Office: We took the team out of the office for a change of scenery. Whether it was a coffee outing or a team-building activity, getting away from the desk helped people see each other as humans, not just colleagues.

Transformative Impact

Elevating this team wasn’t easy and it wasn’t a straight path. But with patience, conviction, and determination, the team went from fighting across desks to sharing stories, laughing, and supporting each other. The atmosphere shifted from negativity to genuine camaraderie.

A disconnected team can be turned around with the right approach—compassion, understanding, and the opportunity to bond. The results were clear: a once-broken team is now a high-performing, supportive group that’s excited to collaborate.

Change isn’t easy, but when you lead with empathy, you can unlock the potential within your team. Let us help you do the same!

Cost Savings Through Tool Registers

Background:  At a global tech company, each department had its own set of tools. Over time, as teams grew and changed, so did the number of tools. The problem was that no one really knew what tools were being used or what they were for. This resulted in inefficiencies, duplicate subscriptions, and unnecessary costs.

The Change

To tackle this, we decided to create a comprehensive tool register. Here’s how we did it:

  1. Gathering Data: We started by collaborating with the finance team, who had access to all the costs associated with the tools. This allowed us to create an initial list of every tool in use across the company.
  2. Team Interviews: Next, we interviewed each department to understand the tools they were using, what worked well, and what didn’t. We also gathered their feedback on what other tools might be needed to improve efficiency.
  3. Building the Register: Using the information we gathered, we built a cloud-based register that was accessible to everyone in the company. This register listed every tool, who managed it, its expiry dates, and the costs, allowing for better management and proactive updates.

Transformative Impact

The tool register brought immediate benefits:

  • Transparency: Everyone could now see what tools were in use and identify overlaps.
  • Cost Savings: With a clearer understanding of the tools we actually needed, we reduced the number of tools from over 100 to just 40, all of which were up-to-date and cost-effective.
  • Improved Management: By tracking who managed each tool and when subscriptions expired, we could plan for smooth transitions and avoid unexpected renewals.

By creating a transparent, cloud-based tool register, we helped the company save money, reduce tool redundancy, and ensure that every department had the right, most up-to-date tools. This process not only streamlined operations but also set the company up for long-term efficiency and cost control.
